About
Hello. I’m Sarah. 20 something from Northern California (Sonoma County), current East Village, NYC Resident. 20 something with a “health food blog??” Alright, so not very original, but hear me out.
Cocoa Nut Shakes started as a way to motivate myself to come up with interesting meals to make during my year in China when unfortunately Chinese food wasn’t working for me. It also gave me something to do when my job only required me to work 10 hours a day, but now it’s more of a way to celebrate and hopefully introduce others to eating un-processed, real, normal, sustainable, local, whole food.
I truly believe that a natural diet and plenty of exercise is the solution for a vast majority of health problems (at least in the US) and I plan to have a career in the future dedicated to helping others live or at least have access to a healthy lifestyle. It’s all about AWARENESS people! I get a ton of my nutrition-recipe-exercise ideas from other blogs and sites so I’m hoping to contribute to that universe a little bit.
That being said, I’m young, try new restaurants all the time, drink to my hearts content and like to post about random things that are entertaining so consider this my disclaimer for randomness.

Dude. We are so in the same situation! Nice to find “friends” in the blogosphere : ) I have never been to China, love reading about your experiences! I am really lucky about the oven… Mozambicans don´t usually use ovens either. How do we survive?!
I love your blog, and the fact that you are VERY easy on the eyes doesn’t hurt. *subscribe*
Yikes! I love your blog! I see you haven’t blogged for awhile and hope you’re doing wonderfully overseas! I would absolutely love to teach english in a foreign country, but I doubt I’ll ever get around to it anytime soon.
Thanks! Yeah I was gone for a while getting used to normal life again, but now I’m back!
